MS MOD Mad Mod Affair Fondren
Come get your mod on with a insider’s architectural tour of the oh-so-hip neighborhood of Fondren in Jackson. Lovers of mod will gather at the old Kolb’s Cleaners (corner of Mitchell and State Street) before heading to Duvall Decker Architects to learn about this building’s upcoming transformation from cleaners to contemporary hotel. Participants will then explore the ever-changing architectural landscape of this vibrant neighborhood amidst the excitement of Arts, Eats and Beats. Stops include a tour of Cooke, Douglass, Farr, Lemons Architects and Engineers, PA and a visit to Brown’s Fine Art to peruse plein air paintings of Fondren. Some of Jackson’s most noted architects will lead the tours, illustrating design concepts of modernist architecture through the many great historic examples in Fondren. The tour will include great craft beer, a fun 50s cocktail and Brent’s Drugs famous milkshakes. The evening will end with a swanky soiree’ on the rooftop terrace of the stylish new home of Wier Boerner Allin Architecture.
